Meldrum foi formada pela ex-guitarrista das bandas Wargod e Phantom Blue, Michelle Meldrum, depois de sua mudança para Estocolmo, Suécia. Inicialmente, a banda era formada somente por integrantes femininas: Janet Simmonds (vocal), Frida Stahl (baixo) e Asa Persson (bateria). Ao contrário do Phantom Blue, o Meldrum possui um som mais influenciado pelo Metal europeu e por bandas como Black Label Society e Ozzy Osbourne, saindo um pouco do Hard Rock americanizado e pendendo vagamente para o Doom Metal em algumas ocasiões. Em 1998, a banda lança uma demo com cópias limitadas. A formação da banda logo sofre reformulações com a saída de Janet e Asa, sendo prontamente substituídas pelos integrantes Moa Holmstein (vocal) e Fredrik Haake (bateria). Em outubro de 2001, é lançado "Loaded Mental Cannon", pela gravadora Record Heaven. A primeira grande tour do Meldrum acontece em novembro de 2002, excurcionando com o Motörhad durante sua turnê pela Escandinávia, enquanto que em abril de 2003, finalmente a banda se lança em turnê americana, ao lado de Nashville Pussy e Black Label Society. Novamente em estúdio, a banda grava um cover de "The Chase Is Better Than The Catch" para um álbum tributo ao Motörhead. Antes do lançamento de segundo álbum, a vocalista Moa Holmstein participa do show de aniversário de 30 anos do Motörhead no London Astoria, em Londres, além de também participar do clipe "Whorehouse Blues". Além de Moa, é a vez de toda a banda excurcionar novamente com o Motörhead durante sua turnê pelos EUA. Em março de 2007, o Meldrum assina com a gravadora italiana Label Frontiers e finalmente é lançado seu segundo álbum, "Blowin' Up The Machine", contando com a participação do vocalista/baixista do Motörhead, Lemmy Kilmster, na faixa "Miss Me When I'm Gone", sem contar que o álbum ainda conta com uma ponta da também ex-Phantom Blue, Linda McDonald, na bateria. Depois de homenagear o Motörhead, o Meldrum participa do tributo ao Pantera, comemorando o aniversário da morte de seu guitarrista, o lendário "Dimebag" Darrell. Com a saída do baterista Fredrik Haake, novamente a banda conta com a inclusão de um baterista masculino, Gene Hoglan (Testament, Strapping Young Lad, Death e Dark Angel). Infelizmente Michelle passou desta pra outra no ano passado e agora está tocando na banda do Tinhoso...

La banda dio a esperar a los fans una versión más oscura de su disco Underworld, y la verdad es que sí se emplean muchas más voces guturales, baterías rápidas y guitarras usando notas graves y efectos más duros. Desde "Sanctus Ignis" en adelante, y luego de "Dominate", este disco es la evolución natural dentro del estilo de Adagio, ya que presenta en mayor cantidad elementos que partieron lentamente en los dos predecesores.

This VIXEN is not the Hair Metal femme fatales of the late 80's. This VIXEN is a much more feral beast! Boasting to be Hawaii's first Metal band, VIXEN cornered the Hawaiian Metal market in the late 80's with a devastating sonic attack akin to MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST and TWISTED SISTER. All the tracks on offer where recorded in 1981 to 1983 so you'd be expecting tired and dated Metal sound but be prepared to witness some rather excellent and dare I say ahead of its time exciting, biting, hard hitting Heavy Metal. There is no mention of an IRON MAIDEN influence by main VIXEN girl Kim La Chance but there is Steve Harris inspired guitar duelling all over this album. The intricate time changes, the complicated arrangements and the technical prowess of guitarist Marty Friedman (yes that same one!) bare all the classic MAIDEN trademarks. I don't know how much MAIDEN there was in Hawaii away back in 1981 but something caught hold. Although I don't hold out for the females vocals much the music on offer is really first class. It's really been a long time since I heard Heavy Metal like this and who cares that it's a couple of decades old! If you are familiar with THE WEIRD LORD SLOUGH FEG then you'll enjoy this Metal romp no end. Tracks like the impressive Rocker' Angels From The Dust?, the Under The Blade' Era TWISTED SISTER sounding' New Age Rock'n'Roll to the electrifying Beg For Mercy all carry the battle cry for competent and engrossing Heavy Metal. The guitar playing of Friedman is on an equal if not better than what he produced with MEGADETH. Back then he must have had Satan himself teaching those searing solos and lead breaks! VIXEN may well have only ever recorded demos and never a proper full blown album but this career retrospective has an abundance of top quality Heavy Metal tunes.

Em 1978 foi criada uma banda chamada Hell Razor, em Ottawa, Canadá. A banda consistia em John Ricci (guitarra), Dan Beehler (bateria) e Allan James Johnson (baixo). Dois anos depois mudam o nome para Exciter e gravam uma demo, que enviam a Mike Varney da Shrapnel Records. Varney inclui uma canção desta demo no álbum US Metal Volume II, em 1982. Pouco depois, Exciter assina contrato com a Shrapnel Records. No ano seguinte é gravado o primeiro álbum, Heavy Metal Maniac. Ainda nesse ano a banda assina com a Megaforce Records. Em 1984 lançam o segundo álbum, intitulado Violence & Force. Depois de abrirem alguns concertos da banda Anthrax, partem numa tour pelos Estados Unidos, com a Mercyful Fate. Depois de assinarem com a editora Music For Nations, viajam até Londres para gravarem o terceiro álbum, Long Live the Loud. Logo depois, partem para a Europa com a banda Accept e, mais tarde, para os Estados Unidos, com as bandas Motörhead e Megadeth. Ainda em 85 gravam o EP Feel the Knife, o último trabalho a ser gravado pela formação original da banda, já que depois do lançamento do EP John Ricci deixa a banda e Brian McPhee torna-se no novo guitarrista. Unveiling the Wicked, o quarto álbum, é lançado em 1986. Depois, a banda seguiu para uma tourneé Europeia com Motörhead e Manowar. A banda decidiu que Dan Beehler, que acumulava as funções de baterista e vocalista, não iria cantar mais. Foi então contratado Rob Malnati. Malnati estreou-se em 88, no álbum Exciter. Em 1991 Dan Beehler voltou a ser também vocalista e baterista e o guitarrista John Ricci regressou á formação No ano seguinte, assinaram com a Noise Records e gravaram o sexto álbum, Kill after Kill. Durante três semanas a banda esteve em digressão pela Europa com Rage. Em 1993 lançaram o primeiro álbum ao vivo, Better Live than Dead, gravado em 91 numa tour pelo Canadá. Em Março de 1996 é anunciada uma formação quase nova: Rick Charron (bateria), Jacques Bélanger (vocais), Marc Charron (baixo). Depois de alguns concertos pelo Canadá gravaram o álbum, The Dark Command. Seguiu-se uma tour europeia com as bandas with Anvil e Flotsam and Jetsam. Durante dois anos, a banda só apareceu duas vezes em festivais. No Verão de 2000 é apresentado Blood Of Tyrants. Um ano depois, Marc Charron deixou a banda. No início de 2003 foi anunciada uma nova formação: John e Rick regressaram e, Rob Degroot e Paul Champagne juntaram-se á banda. Esta formação só durou até Março de 2003, quando Rob Degroot deixou a banda e Jacques Bélanger voltou á banda. Em 2004 Paul Champagne deixou a banda e John gravou as partes de guitarra e baixa do álbum New Testament, uma espécie de best of. Pouco depois, o baixista Rob "Clammy" Cohen juntou-se á banda . Exciter terminou o ano em grande com uma tour pela Europa, em conjunto com Steel Attack. Em 2005 actuou em vários festivais europeus: Tradate Iron Fest (Itália), Bang Your Head (Alemanha) e Metalcamp (Eslovénia). No ano seguinte, Jacques Belanger deixou a banda de novo Kenny Winter substituiu-o. A 4 de Março de 2008 Thrash Speed Burn foi apresentado ao público.
